White Lake Fire Department to Hold Open House

The White Lake Township Fire Department will be hosting an open house Oct. 14. The event is open to the public and free.

The White Lake Township Fire Department will be hosting its annual Open House on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at its main station located at 7420 Highland Road at Porter Road in White Lake Township. This follows fire safety assemblies where students in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade learned the importance of knowing how to respond, particularly in the middle of the night to a smoke detector going off, and going directly to a predetermined meeting place outside of their residence. Firefighters visited the following 6 schools: Brooks, Dublin, Houghton, Lakewood, Oxbow, and St. Patricks.

The Open House runs from 1-4 p.m. Children and their families will be able to meet firefighters, see fire apparatus and equipment, vehicle extrication demonstrations performed, spray water from hoses, a simulated bandaging & first aid station, blood pressure screenings, and see how water is supplied in areas without fire hydrants, to name a few activities. There will also be hot dogs, popcorn, and baked goods for sale.
