Woman, 74, Found Unconscious, Floating Face Down In Oakland Co. Lake: Sheriff
Officials said bystanders pulled the woman from the lake.
WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, MI β An elderly woman is in critical condition after she was found floating face down and unconscious in an Oakland County lake Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.
Officials believe the 74-year-old Detroit woman was swimming shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near the beach in Dodge No. 4 State Park at Cass Lake in Waterford Township.

Bystanders told officers the woman was swimming in four feet of water for a short time, and they believed she was snorkeling, officials said.
When bystanders realized she was not moving and she had no snorkeling equipment on, they quickly pulled the woman from the water, officials said.

Officials said paramedics quickly began CPR before taking the woman to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
"This is a very tragic reminder that anytime someone is in the water, regardless of the depth, it can be life-threatening, and we should watch out after each other," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "We have seen children drowned in a pool surrounded by adults because it happens in seconds."
Officials were still investigating the incident.
