Oakland County Man Shoots, Kills Fiancée: Sheriff

Police said a man called 911 and told officials that he had shot his fiancée and himself​.

HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI — A 23-year-old woman was killed in a Highland Township shooting Tuesday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened at 4 p.m. Tuesday inside a home in the 200 block of Maple, which is just north of Michigan 59 in Highland Township, sheriff's officials said.

Police said a man called 911 and told officials that he had shot his fiancée and himself.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 23-year-old Rachel Renee Wooten shot dead in the home, sheriff's officials said.

The suspected shooter, a 21-year-old Highland Township man, was arrested without incident at the home, sheriff's officials said.

It was unclear if he was injured in the shooting.

Officials said Wooten and the suspected shooter lived together in the home.

Officials did not release the suspected shooter's name and no charges were immediately filed against him in connection with the shooting.

Officials were still investigating the shooting and will turn over their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
