Woman Dead, Man Hurt In Wayne County House Explosion: Police
Officials believe the explosion was gas-related.
SOUTHGATE, MI — A woman died and a man was injured in a Thursday morning house explosion in Wayne County, according to local reports.
The explosion happened at 5:35 a.m. in the area of Edison and Burns streets in Southgate, Detective Sergeant Nathan Mosczynski told reporters Thursday morning.
Mosczynski said a 37-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were injured in the explosion and taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital for severe injuries and burns.

The woman later died from her injuries, reports said.
Mosczynski said the man was blown from the home during the blast and was found in the front yard of the house. He said firefighters found the woman trapped under a pile of debris inside the remnants of the home.

The blast also damaged a nearby home, Mosczynski said.
Investigators were still trying to determine what caused the blast, but Mosczynski said they believe it was gas-related.
