Local Mayors Come to the Aid of DAC Dogs
Woodhaven and Trenton mayors rescue dogs from embattled Detroit Animal Control, urge other mayors to join the effort

WXYZ-TV is reporting Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack and Woodhaven Mayor Patricia Odette went to Detroit Animal Control Tuesday to transfer dogs from the embattled facility.
The dogs were transferred to the no-kill shelter the cities of Woodhaven and Trenton operate together.
The effort is an attempt to save lives and find loving forever homes for as many dogs as possible.

Over the past several months, Detroit Animal Control has come under intense scrutiny and criticism, with allegations of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect being directed toward the facility and staff, not to mention the condition of the facility itself being called into question.
The City of Detroit recently agreed to release dogs to non-profit rescues and licensed shelters, after months of talks between the city and these groups.

Cats and kittens are not part of this agreement to date.
Stack and Odette are urging mayors from other communities to follow their lead and help pull dogs from Detroit Animal Control, thus increasing the chances of adoption into loving homes.
