Wyandotte Patch sent all 15 candidates running for election or re-election an identical questionnaire to give voters more information on each candidate.

The Wyandotte election is rapidly approaching and to help voters make sound, informed decisions, Wyandotte Patch created a questionnaire for candidates seeking election or re-election in 2013.

Election day is set for May 7.

Each of the 15 candidates seeking election or re-election received the same nine questions.

Age:

54

Spouse/kids?:

Married  to Tracie for 22 years. Kelly 19, Larry 16, Annie 15

How long have you been a resident of Wyandotte?:

54 years, 11 months.

What is your prior political experience?:

I have served the city on the TIFA Advisory Board, The Board of Electrical Examiners, and while Mayor, I was an ex-officio member of all boards and commissions as set forth by the Charter of The City of Wyandotte.

What is your prior professional experience?:

Council Member and Mayor

What made you decide to seek election/re-election?:

Wyandotte has been a great place to live and raise a family.  I am a firm believer that all should "step up" and give back to the community in which you reside.  Being involved in city government is my way of saying thank you and giving back.

What issues do you see affecting Wyandotte?:

Continued cuts from the State in their revenue sharing formulas, and declining property values has put a strain on the city financially.  Our job as elected, is to squeeze those dollars to gain the most "bang for our buck".  If you look at the most recent financials for our town, we have done just that. We were even able to show a modest fund balance this year, however this may not be the case next year.

What is your plan to address those issues?

We have to even more aggressively sell our city and market our city to raise its population and re-fill all the vacant lots and houses with homes and families.  The Neighborhood Stabilization Program has been a huge success, and we as a city have to continue this program, even possibly at our own level.  it is my opinion that filling these houses with families will help Wyandotte grow and insure its place in the future as a place where people want to live and raise their families.
