2 More Women Accuse Al Franken Of Groping: Report

The two women shared their stories with HuffPost, the third and fourth women to accuse the senator of inappropriate behavior.

Two more women have come forward to accuse Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) of groping them, the third and fourth women to share their stories about Franken's behavior. The women spoke anonymously to HuffPost and were not aware of each other's stories but have been telling their stories privately for years, as HuffPost noted.

The first woman, a 38-year-old book editor living in Minneapolis, told HuffPost Franken groped her during a photo-op after a June 2007 event hosted by the Minnesota Women's Political Caucus in Minneapolis. The woman alleged that Franken grabbed her buttocks during the photo-op.

HuffPost spoke with two sources close to the woman who corroborated her account. The woman was performing in a feminist choir at the event.

The second woman told HuffPost Franken grabbed her buttocks at a fundraiser in the fall of 2008 at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis.

“I shook his hand, and he put his arm around my waist and held it there,” the woman told HuffPost. “Then he moved it lower and cupped my butt.”

“I was completely mortified,” she added.

The woman excused herself to go to the bathroom to escape the situation and claimed that Franken suggested he follow her. The second woman had told several people about the incident, including one of the HuffPost reporters she spoke to, some years ago but did not want it reported at the time.

The two accusations reported in HuffPost come after two women, Leeann Tweeden, 32, and Lindsay Menz, 33, accused Franken of inappropriate conduct. Tweeden accused Franken of kissing and groping her without her consent while on a USO tour in 2006. Menz told CNN that Franken touched her buttocks during a photo-op at the Minnesota State Fair in 2010.

In response to the accusations published in HuffPost, Franken told the news organization in a statement that “it’s difficult to respond to anonymous accusers, and I don’t remember those campaign events.” He also told HuffPost that he did not proposition anyone to join him in the bathroom.
