MN Dad Kills Wife, Ex, His 2 Kids In Duluth Murder-Suicide: Police

DULUTH, MN — Duluth police are investigating a murder-suicide in which a 46-year-old man fatally shot four people, including his wife, ex-girlfriend, and two children, before taking his own life on Thursday.
The shooter was identified as Anthony Nephew. He and his wife, Kathryn — one of the victims — were featured in a 2015 Duluth News Tribune story about the hot housing market.
Anthony Nephew also wrote a 2021 opinion article about mental health "because he felt he had been bottling things up."

In the column, he wrote that: "For millions of Americans, a breakdown leads to suicide — or homicide before suicide."
Around 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, Duluth Police were requested by the city of Superior to conduct a welfare check on an employee residing in the 6000 block of Tacony Street.

At the house, officers discovered the bodies of 47-year-old Erin Abramson and her 15-year-old son, Jacob Nephew, both dead from gunshot wounds.
Through their investigation, police identified Anthony Nephew as the suspect. A perimeter was established around his residence on the 4400 block of West 6th Street in Duluth.
When police learned that Anthony Nephew lived with his wife and child, they used a drone to enter and survey the home.
They discovered the bodies of 45-year-old Kathryn Nephew (née Ramsland) and her 7-year-old son, Oliver Nephew, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Anthony Nephew was also found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
According to authorities, Anthony Nephew had previously been in a relationship with Erin Abramson, with whom he had Jacob Nephew. He later married Kathryn Nephew, and they had a son, Oliver.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims’ families, friends, and loved ones affected by this tragic event," Duluth Police said in a statement.
