Book Report, No Jail For Minnesota Woman Who Illegally Voted For Trump
Danielle Miller must read "Thank You for Voting" and write a 10-page essay as part of her probation sentence.
ITASCA COUNTY, MN — A Minnesota woman who admitted to filling out her dead mother’s absentee ballot in favor of Donald Trump won’t serve jail time, but she will have to write a book report.
Danielle Christine Miller, 51, was sentenced Oct. 15 to three years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to one felony count of making or signing a false absentee voting certificate, according to Itasca County District Court records.
Judge Heidi M. Chandler stayed the imposition of her sentence, meaning the felony will be reduced to a misdemeanor if Miller completes probation successfully.

As part of her sentence, Chandler ordered Miller to read "Thank You for Voting: The Maddening, Enlightening, Inspiring Truth About Voting in America" by Erin Geiger Smith and write a 10-page paper on "the importance of voting in a democracy and how election fraud can undermine the voting process."
She must also pay $885 in fines and fees, stay law-abiding, maintain employment or community service, and may be discharged early from probation after two years with her probation officer’s and the court’s approval. Two additional counts were dismissed.

Miller previously admitted in court she filled out her deceased mother’s absentee ballot before the 2024 election, saying her mother had been an “avid Trump supporter” who died shortly before ballots arrived.
If she violates probation, the court could reinstate the felony conviction and impose jail time, according to the order.
