Duluth Man Arrested After Threat To Shoot Windows At Elementary School

Police said Richard Neault, 72, threatened Laura MacArthur Elementary before officers seized two guns and ammunition.

DULUTH, MN — A Duluth man was arrested Thursday evening after police said he threatened to shoot out the windows of Laura MacArthur Elementary School.

At about 6 p.m. Sept. 11, officers responded to a report of threats made by 72-year-old Richard Neault.

Police said they went to his home in the 5500 block of West 6th Street, where he was arrested on pending threats of violence charges.

A search warrant at the residence led officers to seize a shotgun, an SKS assault rifle, and ammunition, police said.

Authorities credited officers on “C crew” for their quick response, which they said helped ensure the safety of students and staff.
