Duluth Police Arrest Man In Theft Of Over 30 Hockey Sticks

DULUTH, MN — The Duluth Police Department has arrested a man in connection with the theft of over 30 hockey sticks belonging to the Mankato West hockey team on Saturday.

On Monday, officers arrested 23-year-old Cole Saice on pending charges of felony theft. Police are working to return the hockey sticks to the team.

The investigation began when officers responded to a theft report on Saturday at about 10:50 a.m. in the 200 block of West 1st Street.

Mankato West kept their hockey sticks in their team bus parked outside their downtown Duluth hotel Friday afternoon but discovered them missing while unloading gear for Saturday morning's game against Anoka High School, the Star Tribune reported.

The game was postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers on patrol observed a male walking in the 100 block of East 3rd Street carrying several of the stolen items.

The individual told police he had found the items behind the Churches United in Ministry (CHUM) Center, a day shelter, police said.

While the man did not match the description of the suspect, he was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

Saice was then arrested on Monday, police said.
