Man Indicted For Killing Woman In Hit-And-Run Outside MN Casino

DULUTH, MN — A man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter following the death of a woman on the Bois Forte Reservation, Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick announced.

On Dec. 17, emergency services received multiple calls about a woman who appeared intoxicated and was walking on Tibbets Trail near the Fortune Bay Resort and Casino.

Responders arrived to find the woman unconscious in the snow. She was taken to a hospital but later pronounced dead.
At the scene, authorities found debris from a dark blue vehicle, including pieces of headlights or turn signals. Surveillance footage from the casino showed a dark blue Dodge Durango leaving the area around the time of the incident.

Investigators linked the vehicle to Peterson and later found the Durango at his home with damage matching the debris from the scene.
The case is being handled by the Bois Forte Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and FBI. Prosecutor Nichole J. Carter is leading the case for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
