Minnesota Coronavirus: Deaths Pass 1,000

More than 24,000 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Minnesota as of Sunday, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. The department reports a total of 24,850 tests have returned positive results. An increase of 664 cases was reported Sunday.

The state also reports an additional 14 virus-related deaths Sunday, bringing the state's total 1,040.

As of Sunday, Minnesota's COVID-19 statistics:

Total positive: 24,850

• Total health care workers: 2,690

Total approximate number of completed tests: 249,519

• Total approximate number of completed tests from the MDH Public Health Lab: 23,832
• Total approximate number of completed tests from external laboratories: 225,687

Total cases requiring hospitalization: 3,047

• Hospitalized as of Thursday: 555
• Hospitalized in ICU as of Thursday: 257

Patients no longer needing isolation: 18,695

Deaths: 1,040

• Deaths among cases that resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities: 848
