NOAA Releases Summer Outlook Showing A Big Shift Coming To Minnesota

The long wait for consistent summer weather in Minnesota might finally be over.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The long wait for consistent summer weather in Minnesota might finally be over.

After a cloudy and cool start to the week, with highs in the upper 60s and off-and-on showers through Wednesday, the Twin Cities will begin a steady warm-up in early June.

By Friday, forecasters expect sunny skies and highs in the 80s. The weekend and early next week could bring even warmer weather, with temps nearing 88 degrees by Monday.

The short-term forecast from the National Weather Service calls for:

  • Today (Tuesday): High near 67 with a 40 percent chance of afternoon showers
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, high near 68, with more afternoon showers possible
  • Thursday: Sunny and 77
  • Friday: Sunny and 84
  • Saturday to Monday: Mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 80s

Tonight: Showers likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 53. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming north northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
