MN School Districts Make Decisions On Mask Policies: List

Each public school district in Minnesota will be in charge of creating and enforcing its on masking policy this year.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The Minnesota Department of Education recommends that all students, teachers, staff, and visitors in school buildings wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.

However, the department is not mandating that schools require masks for this upcoming school year. That means it's up to each individual school district to decide on whether to implement a mask mandate or not.

The vast majority of districts will hold their first day of classes on Sept. 8, with most schools doing in-person classes. However, because of the evolving nature of the coronavirus pandemic — specifically the delta variant — many districts have not yet released an official mask policy for the 2021-2022 school year.
