5 Things to Know in Apple Valley This Week

The Apple Valley Planning Commission will look at a preliminary map for a new facility for Lifeworks Services, Inc.

Editor's note: Look for this "5 Things" feature each Monday to fill you in on a few items to know about in Apple Valley for the week.

1. The Apple Valley Planning Commission on Wednesday will consider a building permit and site plan review for a new career development and training center for Lifeworks Services, Inc., a nonprofit based in Eagan that provides services to people with disabilities. The proposed 18,000-foot facility would be built at the northeast corner of Upper 147th Street West and Johnny Cake Ridge Road.

2. The last day is Tuesday. All materials must be turned in to the district office in Rosemount by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

3. Apple Valley's MOMS (Moms Offering Moms Support) Club South at their regular monthly meeting time and place, 10 a.m. Wednesday at Alimagnet Park in Apple Valley. 4. The Dakota County Galaxie Library , put on by Animal Humane Society, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday to teach attendees of all ages more about how to interpret their pets' actions and give them what they need.

5. Apple Valley High School and Eastview High School's fall sports teams officially start practices this week. Look for some conference previews and other features on Apple Valley Patch as the school year gets closer.
