Apple Valley Boys Lacrosse Defeats Wayzata in Season Opener

Sophomore Tim Toavs had four goals in the 7-2 victory.

In chilly conditions on Tuesday, the boys lacrosse squad broke open a tight game with five goals in the fourth quarter to defeat Wayzata 7-2.  

After a tense defensive battle for three quarters, the Eagles led 2-1 at the final break on goals by sophomores Tim Toavs and Chris Rulau.  

The Eagles attack and midfield found their offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter and added three more goals from Tim Toavs, and one goal each from Derek Falteisek and Anthony Leong.

Midfielder Mike Mahre was a key contributor, with many face-off wins, and the defense—led by Blake Broberg, Dylan Caspar and Jack Davis—held strong.

and his staff and freshman goalie Max Chlan earned their first AVHS varsity victories with the win.

The Eagles continue with their second of five consecutive road games with a 6 p.m. Thursday contest at Eden Prairie.
