Apple Valley, Eastview Advance in Girls Basketball Section After Wednesday Wins

Both teams will play Saturday in section 3AAAA semifinal games.

The and girls basketball teams both won handily against their section 3AAAA quarterfinal opponents on Wednesday, and advance to section semifinal games scheduled for Saturday.

No. 1-seeded Eastview beat No. 8 Henry Sibley 62-19 at home. Ten players scored points for the Lightning; Madison Guebert led the team with 11.

No. 3 Apple Valley earned a 69-39 victory over No. 6 Rosemount at home. Eleven Eagles players had points in the game, led by Jaryn Pipkins with 24. Kati Erb was also in double digits, with 11 points.

Eastview is scheduled to take on No. 5 Burnsville, who ousted No. 4 Eagan in the quarterfinals, at 6 p.m. Saturday at Hamline University's Hutton Arena.

Apple Valley will face No. 2 Park Cottage Grove, who previously beat No. 7 East Ridge in the section, at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hamline.

If both teams win, they'd play each other in the section championship on March 8. The state tournament is scheduled for March 14-17 at the Target Center and University of Minnesota Williams Arena.
