Apple Valley, Eastview Boys Swimmers Set for State Meet

Boys swimming and diving team members from and high schools have geared up for the Class AA state swim meet, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Apple Valley as a team finished seventh at the section 3AA meet last week, and sends swimmers to state in three individual events and one relay:

• Junior and captain Andrew France finished first at sections in the 50-yard freestyle race, and third in the 100 freestyle, both with lifetime best and state qualifying times.

• Freshman Aaron Olson qualified for state and had a sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly.

• The 200 freestyle relay team of junior and captain Seth Berry, France, sophomore Derek Olson and junior Jackson Scholberg qualified for state and had a third-place section finish.

Several swimmers from Eastview, who finished sixth as a team at the section meet, qualified for state as well:

• The boys 200-yard medley relay of senior Jack Hassenstab, senior Zane Larwood, junior Erik Nelson and senior Ryan Thompson qualified for state and finished sixth at the section meet.

• Thompson qualified in the 200-yard IM and had a ninth-place section finish, and the 100-yard breaststroke with a third-place finish.

• Dylan Zoe qualified in 1-meter diving with a first-place finish in the section finals.

• The boys 200-yard freestyle relay of Hassenstab, senior Tommy Knutson, Larwood and Thompson qualified for state and finished fifth at the section meet.

Rosemount won the section 3AA meet. Complete section meet results are attached.
