Apple Valley Man Sentenced To 2 Years For Wire Fraud

He stole nearly $1 million from his former employer, reports say.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — An Apple Valley man was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to 2 1/4 years in prison for defrauding his former employer, Chemstar Products Co. in Minneapolis, out of nearly $1 million, The Star Tribune reported.

Gregg W. Johnson, 59, was the former chief financial officer of the company, the publication reported. He stole $930k between 2014 and 2020 by issuing checks from the company bank account, the report said.

Johnson made false entries in Chemstar Products' accounting software to cover his theft and make the cashflow seem like it was balanced, according to the report.
