APPLE VALLEY, MN — Apple Valley Police Department is raising funds for Special Olympics Minnesota.
For every $20 donated, residents will receive a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) t-shirt or hat, the department said. A sleeve of the shirt lists Minnesota law enforcement officers that died in the line of duty. the department said.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is meant to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Minnesota, the department said. This year's run will occur in September-the department said it will share more information about this event soon.

The deadline to order a hat or t-shirt is Sept. 1 and residents can bring their donations with them when they go to pick up their orders at the Apple Valley Police Department front desk, the department said. Those who placed an order will be contacted about picking it up in the second week in September, the department said.
Only cash and check donations will be accepted, the department said.
