Several Vehicle Thefts, Theft From Vehicles Calls In Apple Valley

The south metro has seen a rise in car theft this year, police said.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — The Apple Valley Police Department said in a city email that it has recently responded to "several" calls of vehicle theft and thefts from vehicles.

Early Wednesday morning, the police department said it responded to several thefts from cars in neighborhoods around Oriole Drive, Cooper Lane and Whitney Drive. A car was stolen on Oriole Drive and several others in the area reported their cars had been rummaged through and things had been taken, police said.

The south metro has seen a rise in car theft this year, police said.

Apple Valley PD shared the following tips in the email to prevent car theft:

  • Always lock your vehicle and remove all valuables
  • Never leave your keys or garage door opener in your vehicle when left unattended
  • Watch for and report all suspicious activity immediately to 911
