Arbor Day Tree Giveaway This Saturday

For the 20th year in a row, Rosemount has been recognized as a certified Tree City, USA by the national Arbor Day Foundation. And to celebrate, the city is once again giving away free trees for residents.

The will hold its 20th annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, May 5 in . The event marks Rosemount’s status as a certified Tree City, USA through the national Arbor Day Foundation. Rosemount has held that designation since 1992 and is one of 140 cities in Minnesota recognized for that distinction.

The main event? Free trees for residents.

Rosemount Parks and Recreation will give away 180 six- to eight-foot trees to Rosemount citizens with proof of residency. There is a limit of one tree per household. Trees are given on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 10 a.m.

City staff will be on hand to provide information on the different kinds of trees available, tips for planting and assistance with loading. The bare-root trees will need to be planted within 24 hours so it is advised that residents who plan to take the city up on the gift prepare their yards prior to picking up the tree.
