Big-Screen Luxury Theater to Debut at Apple Valley Carmike Cinemas
The "BIGD" theater will host a fundraiser opening night on Thursday, and has a bigger screen, a more technologically advanced screening and sound setup and luxury seats.

The newest addition to the in Apple Valley will have movie-goers thinking big.
Carmike's new "BIGD" theater will debut at the Apple Valley location on Thursday—one of the first locations in the nation—with a special fundraiser screening, and will continue hosting special film events each night for a week, according to a press release.
The new theater provides "the ultimate entertainment experience that centerpieces large format digital with bigger screens, bigger and better sound, and luxurious in-theater seating for cutting-edge presentation and the definitive enjoyment of our audiences,” Carmike President and CEO David Passman said in the release.

Its screen measures 80 feet wide and almost three stories tall, and the theater features the latest surround sound and digital projection technology, the release says. It has stadium seating, with high-back, leather, rocking seats.
Thursday's 7 p.m. opening-night fundraiser proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Twin Cities Race for the Cure, the release says; admission for the special feature movie will be $5, and small popcorns and drinks will be $1 each.

The week-long film festival kicks off Friday with a showing of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol; each night's BIGD film tickets will cost $5, and movie-goers will receive a large drink and large popcorn for $5, according to the release.
