City Council Could Decide Funding Method for $9.6M in Road Reconstruction

The Apple Valley City Council also will hear about the upcoming city Mid-Winter Fest at its Thursday meeting.

The Apple Valley City Council could on Thursday select a method to fund $9.6 million in road reconstruction over the next 10 years, a vote that members pushed back in December after a third funding option was added and council members wanted more public feedback.

The council, scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the , also could again elect to hold off on voting.

  • increasing the road improvement tax levy by $960,000 per year.
  • combining a $300,000 tax levy increase of $300,000 and a $660,000 special assessment to those whose properties are adjacent to the reconstructed roads
  • using part of the remaining balance in the city's Future Capital Projects fund each year to bridge the gap until the year 2018, when some of the city's debt is paid off and the debt levy drops by a little more than $1 million per year.

The city held three public open houses last week to obtain more input. .
