Driver In Fatal Rosemount Crash Released: County Attorney

He was arrested at the scene of the accident Monday on County Road 42 in Rosemount.

ROSEMOUNT, MN — The man who was driving the vehicle that struck and killed Dennis Dempsey in Rosemount on Monday has been released from jail pending further investigation, according to a news release from the Dakota County Attorney's Office.

The driver was arrested at the scene of the crash on County Road 42 on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, according to a report by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Reports say he was driving after having his license revoked, which he had been convicted of doing 10 times in the past 3.5 years, the report said.

The investigation will include a crash reconstruction by Minnesota State Patrol, the County Attorney's Office said.

The Office also said that the case will be reviewed for potential charges after it gets the results of the investigation.

“Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family, friends and the faith community of Dennis Dempsey for their great loss,” County Attorney Kathryn Keena said.

Dempsey was the pastor of a Burnsville church.
