Eastview Boys Basketball Out of State Tourney After OT Loss to Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie sunk a three-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime, where Eastview lost 75-68.

The boys basketball team is out of the Class 4A boys basketball state tournament after a heartbreaking 75-68 overtime loss to Eden Prairie in quarterfinal play on Wednesday.

With under eight minutes to play in the first half, Eastview led 19-7, which included a 12-0 scoring streak against the Eagles. Eden Prairie made a 9-0 comeback run during the first half, and Eastview went into halftime ahead 21-20.

Eastview senior star Joey King was on the bench for most of the first half, after committing two fouls early in the game, but came back in during the second.

In the second half, scoring was largely back and forth. Eden Prairie's Grant Shaeffer got hot later in the half, and hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, tied 57-57.

Eden Prairie then took the lead in overtime and never looked back. Shaeffer had 41 points in the game.

Eastview ended the season with a 28-2 record, including post-season play.

Eden Prairie will play on Thursday in the semifinals. The winner of that game will advance to the Class 4A state championship game against either or Osseo on Saturday.
