Eastview Girls Basketball Falls to Hopkins in State Semifinal

The Lightning will play the loser of Thursday's Edina/Osseo semifinal for third place in the state tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The girls basketball team's chance at a state title ended Thursday night with a 55-31 loss to No. 1 seed Hopkins at the Target Center.

Eastview will play the loser of Thursday's Edina-Osseo semifinal game for third place at 4 p.m. Saturday at Concordia College.

The Royals led 33-13 at halftime in Thursday's game, and maintained their lead throughout the game; they led by a game-high 33 points with 12 minutes left in the second half. They shot 41 percent, compared with Eastview's 26 percent.

Eastview's Madison Guebert led the Lightning in scoring, with seven points.

Hopkins' Sydney Coffey put up 15 points against Eastview, while her sister, Nia Coffey, had 10. Taylor Anderson also had 10 points for the Royals.

Twenty-four of Hopkins' points came from three-points shots.

Hopkins now has a chance to defend its state title against either Edina or Osseo, depending who wins Thursday's 8 p.m. semifinal game.

Eastview was seeded No. 4 in the Class 4A state tournament. The Lightning .
