Eastview's Mariel Supina Named National Merit Scholarship Winner
The high school senior won a college scholarship sponsored by 3M.

student Mariel Supina is one of about 1,000 high school seniors nationwide to win a corporate-sponsored college scholarship from the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program, according to a news release from the organization.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation this weekreleased the names of the corporate scholarship winners, its first group of winners in the annual scholarship program.
Supina, who listed her probable career field as international relations, won a scholarship sponsored by 3M, according to the release.

Most of the scholarships are renewable annually during four years of college, at anywhere from $500 to $10,000 per year; some scholarships provide a single payment between $2,500 and $5,000, the release says.
One and 10 Eastview students , based on PSAT scores. All in the program, based on their regular SAT scores and outstanding academic performance.

About 8,300 students will receive some type of scholarship from the program, either corporate-sponsored, college-sponsored or National Merit-sponsored. The winners in the latter two categories will be named later this spring.
