Five Things You Should Know Today: August 4
Second verse, same as the first: Today's weather will be a veritable repeat of yesterday's.

- The National Weather Service says the high today will be around 84, with mostly sunny skies and calm winds becoming southerly. And tonight: partly cloudy, with a low around 64 and more light southerly winds. We must be living right.
- Have you ever yearned to have ? The Rosemount Police Department offers that opportunity every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Meet with an officer on an informal basis and ask all the questions you like. This week’s location: Caribou Coffee, 3868 150th St. W.
- It’ll be another perfect night for an outdoor concert. The Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley hosts Big Head Todd and the Monsters at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $43.04 (including fees) and are still available through Ticketmaster.
- If you’ve been concerned lately that a zombie apocalypse is imminent, ease your fears at the Lakeville branch of the Dakota County Library with Zombie Apocalypse Survival Training at 2:30 p.m., featuring zombie apocalypse experts and a sci-fi movie at 2:30 p.m. (Do you think “zombie apocalypse expert” is what they put under “occupation” on their tax forms?)
- And happy birthday to President Barack Obama, who turns 50 today. He shares his birthday with actor Billy Bob Thornton, who is 56 today; Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay and former California gubernatorial candidate, who turns 55; and venerable journalist Helen Thomas, who turns 91. Now that would be a dinner party worth attending.
