Five Things You Should Know Today: July 14

Anyone heard a rumor about some big movie opening tonight?

  1. The good weather news: It will remain unseasonably cool today. The bad weather news: The lower temps will likely be accompanied by showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service is predicting a high near 75 today, with showers likely and thunderstorms possible. We could see between a quarter-inch and a half-inch of rain.
  2. Some obscure movie called “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” tonight at Marcus Rosemount Theatre. There will be two showings at 12:01 a.m. You can buy your tickets online or at the box office.
  3. AlphaBits, a Minnesota duo that specializes in music for children 8 and younger, in Rosemount’s Central Park. Admission is free.
  4. On this day in 1991, the Minnesota Twins retired jersey number 6, formerly worn by slugger Tony Oliva – 1964’s American League Rookie of the Year and a three-time American League batting champion.
  5. And today is National Nude Day. Really. If you must celebrate it, do it legally. (The Rosemount Police Department thanks you.)
