You think the weather's been kind of boring the last few days? Don't knock it – at least it's not rain. Or snow.

- Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 and light and variable winds, according to the National Weather Service. Rain doesn’t show up in the forecast until Saturday, when there’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.
- Tonight is in Lakeville. Come and watch more than 550 classic cars cruise through downtown Lakeville from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with many cars on display after the parade. If you’ve got a car 25 years or older and you want to join in, you can register between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.
- On this day in 1889, the federal government and the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe signed a treaty that ceded 2,905,000 “surplus” acres from the reservation, which allowed the band to hold the land in common and protect it from piecemeal sales.
- Actor Kevin Bacon – he of the six degrees – turns 53 today. Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck turns 62. And Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, turns 13.
- Today is National Video Games Day AND National Milk Chocolate with Almonds Day. Commemorate both by eating a Hershey bar with almonds while playing your Wii.
