Five Things You Should Know Today: June 28
The sun returns today, just in time for you to pick up some fresh produce at the farmers market.

- Today’s the day for outdoor activities, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high around 75, and light winds from the northwest. Get out and hit the garden or take the dog for a walk.
- It’ll also be a good day to hit the , which runs from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the Rosemount Community Center parking lot at 13885 Robert Trail S.
- Minnesota’s weather hasn’t always been so ideal on this day. On June 28 and 29, 1975, two huge tornadoes, each more than three-quarters of a mile wide, touched down near Moorhead, and on June 28 four years later, 16 tornadoes were reported statewide in less than seven hours – one of the worst tornado outbreaks in state history.
- On June 28, 1996, St. Paul native Charles M. Schulz – the creator of “Peanuts” – got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
- Wake me up before you go-go: On this day in 1986, Wham! made its farewell concert appearance in London’s Wembley Stadium. Surprise guest Elton John showed up in a clown suit to sing a song, then returned later to perform “Candle in the Wind” with George Michael.
