Genesis Jazz Orchestra To Play In Minnesota Festival of Jazz

The festival will start at noon on June 12.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Genesis Jazz Orchestra, an ensemble of Rosemount Community Band, announced that it will perform in the free Minnesota Festival of Jazz on the Prairie on June 12.

The festival will start at noon at Staring Lake Park Amphitheatre in Eden Prairie, the ensemble said.

A new group will perform every hour, with GJO performing at 5 p.m., according to the ensemble. The festival is sponsored by the city of Eden Prairie and Eden Prairie Noon Rotary's Ribfest fundraiser, the ensemble said.

GJO said its final free concert of the season will be June 22 at 7 p.m. at Rosemount's Central Park Bandshell, as part of the city's ArtBlast event.

Genesis Jazz Orchestra was established in 2018 and has members across the Southeast Metro, it said. Many of its members are former or current music instructors, or have degrees in music, the ensemble said.

GJO also performs at Jazz Central Studios in Minneapolis, and at city band shells and parks, according to the ensemble.
