Rep. John Kline Honors 2 in Apple Valley With Awards For Volunteerism
The award acknowledges people who made life better for others beyond themselves.

Two people in Apple Valley have been honored with a Star of the North award from U.S. Rep. John Kline, who represents Minnesota's Second Congressional District, according to a press release.
Rick Anderson has for three years fundraised for Apple Valley-based, youth-mentoring nonprofit , . Anderson and his wife, Lisa, also are volunteer mentors.
Lou Miller, of in Apple Valley, donates the restaurant's extra food to a number of local organizations, including veteran volunteers at Fort Snelling Cemetery, elementary schools and Dakota County food shelves.

Anderson, Miller and other recipients were recognized at a ceremony in Lakeville; each received a congressional certificate of special recognition.
“I was honored to recognize Minnesotan men, women, and children from around the 2nd district who identified needs in the community and stepped forward to serve,” Kline said in the press release. “In ways both small and large, these individuals took the steps necessary to make life a little better for someone beyond themselves. The incredible generosity and selfless service they have shown is as an inspiration to us all.”
