Valentine's Comedy, Candlelight Hike and Skate on Weekend Calendar

The temperatures might stay chilly this weekend, but these events will help warm you up.

1.

Why Go: Treat your sweetheart to an evening with local comedian Bob Stromberg at Shepherd of the Valley's annual Valentine’s event, where Stromberg will perform a blend of storytelling, stand-up and physical comedy.

Delicious desserts will also be served adding an extra dose of sweetness to this Valentine’s date night.

Cost: $25/couple; childcare: $4/child

When/Where: 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday,

Why Go: There's a lack of snow on the ground, but that just means a slight modification for Lebanon Hills' outdoor activities. Four miles of wooded park trails will be lined with candles for an evening of hiking, and a one-half mile ice skating trail and ice rink will be lit for skating. Bonfires will be available to warm up, and the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center will be open late to warm up or to purchase hot chocolate, hot dogs, mini donuts and more.

You can still pre-register on Thursday, or pay at the door. Bring your own ice skates.

Cost: $8 pre-registration, $10 at the door, ages 5 and under free.

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Burnsville Performing Arts Center

Why Go: Swing with your valentine to the world-class, award winning sounds of Tim Patrick and his Blue Eyes Band, along with special guest vocalists Jennifer Grimm and Debbie O’Keefe as they perform the love songs of Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin, and many other greats.

When/Where: 11 a.m. to noon Saturday,

Why Go: Recognize Black History Month as KFAI's Lady Griot uses storytelling and live music to show the roots blues have in the music brought by slaves from their homeland. Hear the spiritual side of this tribal music and how it relates to the 12 bar blues. (This is a Minnesota Legacy program for ages 10 and older.)

When/Where: 3 p.m. Sunday, Burnsville PAC

Why Go: Three local high school choirs join the Dakota Valley Symphony Chorus for Mozart’s dramatic last work (Requiem), and orchestra favorite, soloist Ariana Kim, returns to Minnesota for Dvorak’s dance-filled Violin Concerto. Other featured works include Alfonso and Estrella Overture by Schubert.

Cost: Reserve tickets $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $5 for students
