APPLE VALLEY, MN — Minnesota Zoo is participating in a study that looks at sand tiger shark habitat use and behavior, according to a report by Sun Thisweek.

Researchers are hoping that one of the mysteries the study will provide insight on is breeding sharks in captivity, the report said. Minnesota Zoo Aquarist Becky Duchild told the publication that she only knows of two aquariums that have successfully bred captive sharks.

The zoo also studies swimming patterns, interactions with tank mates and other behaviors, the report said.
