Photos: Sen. Amy Klobuchar Focuses on Science, Tech During Apple Valley Visit
Klobuchar went to Uponor and Cedar Park Elementary—a science, technology, engineering and math magnet school—on Wednesday.
STEM was the theme of the visit U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) made to Apple Valley on Wednesday.
Klobuchar first went to , which makes and distributes HVAC, fire safety and plumbing systems for contractors and builders, and met there with employees, city officials and Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce members.
Later, she talked with teachers and students at —District 196's science, technology, engineering and math magnet school—as students worked on a project to determine the best type of and most cost-effective material to make mittens, then design and engineer them to donate the final products to charity.

She also visited the classroom of Minnesota Science Teacher of the Year Cathy Kindem, whose students were learning about types of shells.
The tour was part of Klobuchar's “Made in America” economic tour; since October, Klobuchar has visited more than 20 Minnesota businesses with job creation opportunities, according to a press release.
