Rep. John Kline Nominates Apple Valley Students to U.S. Service Academies
Apple Valley and Eastview students received nominations at a ceremony in Burnsville.

U.S. Rep. John Kline, who represents Apple Valley and the rest of Minnesota's Second Congressional District, has nominated three Apple Valley students among about two dozen to the various United States Service Academies.
According to an announcement from Kline's office:
- , a senior at , was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Field plays hockey and lacrosse and is a member of National Honor Society. Her parents are Kevin and Teresa Field.
- , a senior at , was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Krueger plays football, basketball, and competes in track and field. His parents are Joel and Linda Krueger.
- Austyn Neumann-Shaw, a senior at Edina High School, was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy. Neumann-Shaw plays soccer and badminton. Her parents are Mark and Heather Neumann-Shaw.
Applicants to the Air Force, Army (West Point), Naval, and Merchant Marine Academies need a nomination from their Congressperson, Senator, the Vice President or the President.

Students who live in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District who wish to attend a Service Academy can submit an application to Kline’s Service Academy Advisory Board; Kline makes the final decision on nominees. Each academy selects students from among those who receive nominations.
