According to the complaint, Burnsville police began investigating on July 1 after a man returned home from a trip and discovered a 17-year-old boy’s wallet in his house.

The man, identified as Witness 1, told police that Reinhardt had been house-sitting for him while he was out of state from June 23 to 29. He said the teen had never been to his home and had no reason to be there. When he confronted Reinhardt, she responded with, “okay” and “OK, bye,” before ending the call, according to police.

The teen later told investigators that he had left his wallet in Reinhardt’s car after she gave him a ride to a sports practice in Maple Grove on June 28, the criminal complaint states.

He said Reinhardt waited for him during practice and drove him home afterward. He initially described their relationship as strictly coach and athlete, calling her "really nice," and denied spending time with her outside of their sport. But when officers reviewed his phone, they found text messages from Reinhardt telling him he had “a lot of things to delete,” along with messages referencing condoms, according to police.

The teen eventually admitted that he and Reinhardt had been spending more time together in recent months, getting food and hanging out, which led to kissing, the criminal complaint states.

He said they began dating about two to three months earlier and that, on at least one occasion, they watched TV and built a Lego set together at the Burnsville residence where Reinhardt was staying.

When asked about the text messages referencing condoms, the teen told officers that he and Reinhardt had engaged in sexual intercourse, according to police.

The teen also reported that Reinhardt sent him nude photos, the criminal complaint states.

Police arrested Reinhardt at her Rosemount home on July 2.

In a recorded interview, she initially told investigators that the teen had simply left his wallet in her car after a ride to practice. She described their relationship as that of coach and player. But Reinhardt later admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the teen, according to police.
