School Board Slated to Approve 2011-12 Budget for District 196
The board has seen variations of the nearly $350 million budget since June, and should approve the final budget at its 6 p.m. Monday meeting.

District 196's school board is slated to vote on the district's 2011-2012 budget at its 6 p.m. Monday meeting, held at in Apple Valley.
The expenditures for all funds total almost $348 million. That includes building construction, food service, debt service and a few other smaller funds, and the general fund, which at almost $297 million represents 85 percent of the district's expenses.
About 83 percent of the district's general fund expenses are for salaries and benefits.

General fund revenue for 2011-12, the budget shows, is a little more than $292 million, 73 percent of which comes from state aid.

Also on the board agenda is consideration of:
- a bargaining agreement with school bus drivers, crossing guards and chaperones
- adding an extra staff development day on March 9
