APPLE VALLEY, MN — It may be hard to believe, but summer is just around the corner. And summer in the Twin Cities means outdoor community festivals.

A favorite tradition for south metro residents is the Apple Valley Freedom Days.

The four-day-long Freedom Days festival has been an Apple Valley tradition for nearly 60 years and is put on by volunteers on the Apple Valley Freedom Days Committee.

The festival starts in late June and culminates with the Freedom Days Parade and an impressive fireworks display on the Fourth of July.

  • Music in the Park

Freedom Days was canceled in the summer of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But it continued the following year and held its 56th celebration in 2022.

The 2023 daily schedule has not yet been released, but Freedom Days 2023 will kick off on Friday, June 30, and end Tuesday, July 4. As is tradition, most activities will take place at Johnny Cake Ridge Park (5800 140th St W Apple Valley MN 55124.)
