Victorian Vacation: Historical Society to Offer Immersive Summer Camp

This summer, kids will have a chance to live like a LeDuc, one of the key founding families of Dakota County. 

The Dakota County Historical Society will hold two immersive youth summer camps at the family's historic estate, an impeccably-restored Gothic Revival home in Hastings. The house was built over a period from 1865 to 1866, long before electricity became standard in Minnesota. "Life with the LeDucs" invites kids eight through 10 back to a simpler time. While at the LeDuc home kids will be able to wear period dress, feed chicken and play a stately game of croquet on the lawn, among many other things.

The camp runs in two sessions, June 25 to 27 and July 9 to 11.  

For slightly older children (aged 11 to 13) the society will offer "Music & Art of the 1800s" from July 16 to 18.  

All day camps run each day from 8 a.m. to noon. The registration fee for each is $45 for members of the society and $60 for non-members.
