Winter Storm Warning Issued for Saturday Night, Sunday Morning in Apple Valley

Between two and four inches of snow could fall on the area during the coming evening and into the new year.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for many Minnesota counties, including Dakota County and Apple Valley, that is slated to start at 9 p.m. Saturday and continue into the new year, until 6 a.m. Sunday.

A rain and snow mix today should turn to snow this evening; between two and four inches of snow are expected, heaviest in the east-central and south-central parts of the state.

There's also could be winds between 25 and 35 miles per hour expected, creating potential for blowing snow.

A wind advisory then is slated to go into effect from 6 a.m. Sunday and through Sunday night, with gusts around 50 miles per hour possible.

The NWS advises traveling only in an emergency.
