Woman Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle Friday in Apple Valley

The woman was identified as Co T. Tran, 72, of Apple Valley, according to police.

An Apple Valley woman died Friday morning after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Pilot Knob Road, according to a press release from the .

The victim was identified as Co T. Tran, age 72, according to the release.

At 6:25 a.m. Friday, police were called to Pilot Knob Road just south of County Road 42 on a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

When officers arrived they found a woman, later identified as Tran, lying on the ground in the center median area of Pilot Knob Road, and she was dead at that time.

Police determined that she had been crossing from the east side of Pilot Knob Road when she was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Pilot Knob, driven by a 54-year-old Farmington man.

Police believe the darkness at that time of day contributed to the incident.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with a reconstruction of the scene.
