Burnsville City Manager Resigns Friday, City Names Interim

BURNSVILLE, MN — Burnsville's City Manager Melanie Mesko Lee resigned effective Friday, the city said in a news release.

City Council will formally accept Lee's resignation at its Tuesday meeting, the news release said. Lee had worked as city manager since 2019, and was a part of several community organizations and also represented the city on committees and groups at the county, metro and state level, according to the city.

"We’re thankful that Melanie brought her leadership talents to Burnsville and we’re grateful for her service to our community," Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz said.

Deputy City Manager Gregg Lindberg was appointed to the role of interim City Manager, the city said.

Lindberg had been Deputy City Manager for Burnsville since 2019 and was previously a City Council member in St. Louis Park, the city said. He has over 20 years of experience with local government, the city said.

"Gregg is the right person to lead our organization alongside our leadership team,” Kautz said. "He has extensive knowledge of local government and staff development. His passion for the Burnsville community is inspiring, and I’m confident he will help us go from a great service organization to an excellent one."

In her resignation letter, Lee thanked city staff, volunteers and community members who worked to make Burnsville a better place, the city said.

"Organizational change can be scary, but it also represents an opportunity," Kautz said.
"Burnsville is made up of hundreds of talented staff members who come to work every day with a singular goal of furthering our vision of being a vibrant city, boldly leading, welcoming to all. I’m confident that our staff will continue to serve Burnsville’s community with professionalism and excellence."
