Burnsville Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges

Anthony Richard Marcum is charged with first- and second-degree drug possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

A Burnsville man is facing felony drug and firearm charges after authorities say they found cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and illegal guns in his apartment and in an Inver Grove Heights apartment in which he was staying.

Anthony Richard Marcum, 28, was charged in August with two felonies after agents with the Dakota County Drug Task Force raided his apartment in the 300 block of West McAndrews Road: first-degree drug possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, which has a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

Earlier this month, agents executed another search warrant at an apartment in the 3100 block of 65th Street East in Inver Grove Heights and charged Marcum with second-degree drug possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Marcum remains in the Dakota County Jail on a $250,000 bond. A co-defendant in the December raid, Elizabeth Ann Solle, 23, is also charged with second-degree drug possession and is being held in the Dakota County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaints, task force agents executed a search warrant on Marcum’s Burnsville apartment in late August and recovered a semi-automatic pistol, ammunition and numerous bags containing cocaine and methamphetamine.

Marcum’s criminal history includes a conviction for first-degree aggravated robbery in January 2003, which resulted in the death of a co-defendant and for which he served more than three years in prison.

On Dec. 7, task force agents executed another search warrant on the Inver Grove Heights apartment. They found Marcum in the parking lot, arrested him and acquired an apartment key from him, according to the complaint.

When agents entered the apartment, they found Solle in the kitchen. According to the complaint, she immediately hid her right hand; agents ordered her to show her hands, and when she hesitated, agents pulled her into the hallway and handcuffed her, finding a glass bubble pipe used to smoke methamphetamine in her right sleeve.

Agents seized numerous items of drug paraphernalia, along with cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana from the apartment, the complaint says.

An omnibus hearing in Marcum’s case is scheduled for Dec. 19 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings. Solle’s next court appearance is also scheduled Dec. 19 in Hastings.
