  1. It is unlawful for any peddler or solicitor to engage in door-to-door solicitations without first registering with the City. As part of the registration process, criminal background checks are conducted on each person engaged in peddling/soliciting. Peddlers/solicitors must wear and display a City-issued ID. Do not hesitate to ask to see a City ID if you do not see one displayed.
  2. City-issued IDs are given to each person who is registered to solicit -- one ID does not cover all employees in a company.
  3. If you are concerned with the conduct of a peddler/solicitor or they do not show you their City-issued ID, please call 9-1-1 immediately so an officer can check it out.
  4. If you do not want solicitations you can display a "no soliciting" placard on your door. Download a "no soliciting" placard at https://burnsvillemn.gov/faq.a...
  5. The City does not regulate companies who solicit by telephone, but we encourage residents to be vigilant and check with the Better Business Bureau before hiring unknown businesses.
  6. The City does not provide solicitors with a list of phone numbers or personal information.
