Former BHS Teacher and Coach Tapped for 'Hall of Fame'

The Minnesota Football Coaches Association will recognize Dick Hanson at a ceremony in March.

Dick Hanson, veteran teacher and head football coach at Burnsville High School, will soon take his place on the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

According to the Association, Hanson garnered an impressive record over his 24-year career at Burnsville. Between 1969 and 1993, his teams racked up 192 wins, two ties and just 56 losses — a 77 percent win rate. Under his leadership, BHS took 11 football conference championship titles, 11 sectional championships and won state five times.

Hanson was also among the first group of inductees into Burnsville High School's Hall of Fame, a Minnesota Teacher of the Year and runner-up to National Teacher of the Year, among many other honors.

Hanson will receive his reward during a ceremony on March 31.
