'I Love Burnsville' Week: Walk with the Mayor, Pickleball and Ice Cream
The city is planning a full slate of activities for its annual "I Love Burnsville" week.

If the Beatles were right, and “Love” is all you need, then the sixth-annual I Love Burnsville Week celebration is just the ticket! With events for everyone in the family, I Love Burnsville Week is the perfect opportunity for Burnsville friends, families and neighbors to express their love for their community.
Saturday, June 1
I Love Burnsville 5K
Burnsville is hosting a 5K as part of the annual SORR Ground Pounders Grand Prix Running Race. The I Love Burnsville 5K race will start and finish at Nicollet Commons Park. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories: 8 and under, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.

Time: Registration begins at 7 a.m.
Race starts at 8:15 a.m.
Cost: $20 - includes a water bottle
Walk with the Mayor (this will be in conjunction with the 5K)
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Heart of the City with Mayor Elizabeth Kautz, friends, family and neighbors.

Heart Restart CPR (this will be in conjunction with the 5K)
Visit the Heart Restart CPR booth at the I Love Burnsville 5K.

Appliances, Electronics, and Other Household Goods Drop-Off Event
Recycle refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, computers and more at the Spring Appliance & Electronics Drop-Off during I Love Burnsville Week.
Where: City of Burnsville Maintenance Center, 13713 Frontier Court
Time: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Cost: Drop off appliances, electronics and more for a small, per-item fee. Cash or check only.

- Appliances such as washers, dryers, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, water heaters and water softeners ($2)
- Computer monitors and televisions ($10-20)
- Other residential electronic devices, such as computers, stereos and DVD players ($5)
- Mattresses and box springs ($15)
- Air conditioners and scrap metal (lawn/garden/power tools) (No charge) FLUIDS MUST BE DRAINED
- Bicycles in any condition will be refurbished and donated (No charge)
Items NOT accepted:
- Hazardous waste (aerosols, batteries, cleaners, paint, light bulbs, pesticides, etc.)
- Furniture
- Construction/demolition materials
- Vacuum cleaners
- Tires

Softball Tournament
Come and join the fun at the “I Love Burnsville” Softball Tournament! Whether you play in a league or want to put a team together for a day of fun, you won’t want to miss this one-day tournament. Registration forms are available online.
Who: The tournament is open to all D/E men’s teams and D women’s teams
Where: Lac Lavon softball complex, 15501 Lac Lavon Drive
Cost: $130 per team
Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 29 at 12:00 p.m. Teams will be notified by Thursday at 5 p.m. of first game time. For more information contact Garrett Beck at 952-895-4516.

Curbside Collection (June 3-15)
Do you have an ugly couch sitting in your basement? Or maybe there is a broken refrigerator in your garage? Whatever the item is be sure to get it out of the house during the 2013 Curbside Collection Week. Buckingham Disposal will be giving Burnsville residents a discount on a curbside pick-up of bulky items, appliances and electronics as a part of I Love Burnsville Week. Contact Buckingham Disposal at 952-226-6441 to schedule pick-up and arrange payment by noon the day before your weekly garbage collection day.
Where: Your residence, at your curb.
Time: Pick-up will be on the same day as your weekly garbage collection.
Cost: Small, per-item fees

Intro to Pickle Ball
Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffle ball.
Whether you are an experienced player or trying it out for the first time, please join us in opening our first set of pickle ball courts in Burnsville. Experienced players will be on hand to help with rules and scoring. Paddles and balls will be provided.

Explore habitats and learn about wildlife at Kelleher Park. Expect to walk about one-half mile on a paved, hilly trail.

“Why I Love Burnsville” Essay Contest
This contest will recognize the best 3rd grader compositions completing the sentence “I love Burnsville because…..” The US Federal Credit Union of Burnsville is offering $50 to 3 winners and their schools. This contest is open to all 3rd grade Burnsville residents. Winners will read their essays and be recognized at the City Council meeting.

"I Love Burnsville" Video Contest
This contest will recognize the best videos submitted by community members sharing why they love Burnsville. The contest and prizes are sponsored by the Burnsville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce and Porter Creek Hardwood Grill. This contest is open to Burnsville residents, community organizations and those who work in Burnsville. Winning videos will be recognized at the City Council meeting.

Behind the Badge – Police & Fire Safety Workshop for 62
Burnsville residents, 62 and older, are invited to participate in a Public Safety workshop. Meet your local Police & Fire personnel, learn important safety information and get all your questions answered!

Pickleball and Tennis Mixer
Join the fun at this non-competative social function while playing tennis and pickleball (a game that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis).
